A Sample of The Skills You Will Learn

This is my 2026 DMC championship routine — the result of years spent developing, combining and refining these skills.

But here's the important part.

I wasn't born knowing how to do any of this.

Every advanced movement began with something simple. Every complex routine was built through smaller, manageable steps.

And that's exactly how we teach at Temple of Turntablism.

How we get you from zero to mastery

Finally Understand What's Actually Happening

Watching an incredible beat juggle is one thing. Figuring out exactly what the DJ is doing with two records, two hands and a crossfader is something else entirely. It's almost impossible to practise something when you don't understand how it works.

That's why we break down every pattern into simple, clearly explained movements and rhythms, showing you exactly what's happening and why.

Stop guessing and start understanding. Know exactly what to do, how to do it and how to practise it.

Master the Movements Before the Patterns

Trying to learn complex beat juggling patterns before you've developed the necessary coordination is a recipe for frustration. It's like trying to run before you can walk.

Instead, you'll start with carefully designed drills that develop the fundamental movements, timing and coordination you'll need throughout the course. You'll build confidence with each movement before combining them into complete patterns.

Build strong foundations that make every new pattern easier to learn, rather than constantly struggling with the basics.

From Simple Concepts to Killer Patterns

Complex beat juggling can seem completely out of reach. But even the most impressive patterns are often built by combining and developing surprisingly simple ideas.

You'll follow a structured roadmap through over 50 beat juggling patterns, starting with the fundamentals and gradually layering on complexity. Each new pattern builds on skills you've already developed, so you're never making an unnecessarily difficult leap.

Progress from your very first beat juggle to increasingly complex, impressive patterns, one manageable step at a time.

Turn Individual Patterns Into Complete Performances

Learning individual patterns is exciting, but knowing how to connect them into a routine that flows, develops and keeps an audience engaged is an entirely different challenge.

That's why the course includes detailed breakdowns of complete beat juggling routines. You'll discover how different patterns fit together, how routines are structured and how simple ideas can develop into something much more impressive.

Go beyond copying isolated patterns and start creating exciting, cohesive routines of your own.

Think Like a Champion. Perform Like an Artist.

Technical difficulty alone doesn't make a great beat juggling routine. Without creativity, musicality and performance skills, even the most technically impressive juggling can struggle to capture an audience's attention.

That's why you'll also learn about creativity, performance psychology and competition strategy, including advice from experienced competitors and insights into what makes a routine stand out.

Develop the confidence, creativity and performance skills to do more than execute difficult patterns. Create routines that entertain, surprise and leave a lasting impression.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this course suitable for complete beginners?

Absolutely! You don't need any previous beat juggling experience. I do recommend that you have some experience and are confident dropping tracks directly into the mix in time before starting.

We'll start with the fundamental movements and coordination drills before introducing your first simple patterns. From there, we'll gradually build complexity, with each lesson developing skills you've already learned.

You won't be thrown straight into complicated routines. You'll follow a clear, structured journey that makes beat juggling much easier to understand and learn.

I can already beat juggle. Will I still benefit?

Definitely!

If you've already mastered some basic patterns, you can use the course to expand your repertoire, improve your understanding of more complex techniques and develop your ability to build complete routines.

With over 50 patterns, full routine breakdowns and additional content on creativity and performance, there's plenty to challenge more experienced DJs.

You can also revisit the fundamentals to identify gaps in your technique that might be holding you back.

Do I need to know how to scratch before learning to beat juggle?

Not at all!

Although scratching and beat juggling are both forms of turntablism, they're different skills. You can learn beat juggling without knowing a single scratch technique.

You'll need some basic familiarity with operating your DJ equipment, but we'll introduce the movements and concepts you need as you progress.

If you want to develop both skills, our Learn to Scratch course is a great companion.

Isn't beat juggling incredibly difficult?

It certainly looks that way!

When you watch an experienced beat juggler, you're seeing two records being manipulated simultaneously to create completely new rhythms. Without understanding what's happening, it can seem almost impossible to replicate.

But here's the secret: even the most complex beat juggling routines are built from relatively simple movements and patterns.

We'll break everything down into manageable steps, help you master the fundamentals and gradually introduce more challenging combinations.

Beat juggling is challenging, but it doesn't have to be confusing.

How is this different from learning on YouTube?

You can find plenty of impressive beat juggling performances and tutorials online. The problem is that watching someone perform a pattern doesn't necessarily help you understand how to recreate it.

And you can't practise what you don't understand.

Instead of leaving you to work everything out for yourself, this course explains the movements, timing and structure behind each pattern.

You'll also follow a carefully designed progression through more than 50 patterns, so you'll always know what to learn next.

It's the difference between watching someone do something incredible and actually understanding how to do it yourself.

What equipment do I need?

You'll need two turntables or a suitable DJ controller with moving platters, along with a mixer or crossfader. Beat juggling is possible on static platters but it is much harder.

You don't necessarily need an expensive professional setup, but your equipment must allow you to manipulate two tracks independently and control their playback accurately.

Can I learn beat juggling on a DJ controller?

Yes, but I strongly recommend you use a DJ controller with moving platters. It is much harder on static platters, especially if you don't have an LED showing where you are in the track. Something like the REV7 or the Rane One or the Hercules T7 or T10 series will be perfect.

What if I struggle with coordination?

That's completely normal!

Beat juggling requires you to coordinate both hands, control two records and work with musical timing. It's a lot to think about when you're first starting.

That's exactly why the course begins with fundamental drills.

You'll develop the individual movements first, then gradually combine them into more complex patterns.

Coordination is a skill you develop through practice, not something you need to be born with.

What exactly will I learn?

You'll learn the fundamental movements and techniques behind beat juggling before progressing through more than 50 patterns of increasing complexity.

The course also includes detailed breakdowns of complete routines, helping you understand how individual patterns can be combined into exciting performances.

You'll also explore creativity, performance techniques and competition advice to help you develop your own approach to beat juggling.

The goal isn't simply to teach you a collection of patterns. It's to give you the understanding and skills to start creating your own.

How quickly will I learn to beat juggle?

That depends on your starting point, the equipment you're using and how consistently you practise.

Some of the simpler movements and patterns can be understood quite quickly, while more advanced combinations require greater coordination, precision and repetition.

The course is designed to help you make progress efficiently by teaching skills in a logical order and breaking difficult movements into manageable parts.

The aim is to make every practice session productive, rather than spending hours trying to work out what you're supposed to be doing.

I personally learned all of these patterns and started competing in DMC battles over a 3 year period but you could do it in less.

How much time do I need to practise?

You don't need to spend hours at the decks every day.

Short, focused practice sessions can be extremely effective, particularly when you're learning a new movement or developing coordination.

We recommend practising consistently and focusing on mastering one skill at a time before introducing more complexity.

Even 15–30 minutes of daily focused practice can be valuable.

Will I learn how to create my own beat juggling routines?

Yes! That's one of the main goals of the course.

Learning individual patterns is an important first step, but being able to combine them creatively is where beat juggling becomes really exciting.

You'll explore more than 50 patterns and study detailed breakdowns of complete routines to understand how different ideas fit together.

You'll also learn about creativity and performance, helping you move beyond copying patterns towards developing your own musical ideas.

Can this course help me prepare for DJ battles?

Absolutely.

Alongside the technical lessons, you'll have access to advice on performance, creativity and competition strategy, including insights from experienced competitors.

You'll learn more about what makes a routine engaging, how to develop your own ideas and how to approach performance more confidently.

Of course, competition success takes dedication and experience, but this course will help you build many of the skills you'll need.

Can I learn at my own pace?

Absolutely.

The course is completely online and self-paced, so you can work through the lessons whenever it suits you.

You can pause, rewind and revisit demonstrations as many times as you need.

There's no pressure to rush through the content. In fact, we encourage you to spend time mastering the fundamentals before progressing to more difficult patterns.

Do I get lifetime access to the course?

If you choose the lifetime-access option, you'll make a one-time payment and receive ongoing access to the course without recurring subscription fees, subject to the purchase terms.

That means you can revisit lessons, refresh your skills and continue working through more advanced patterns at your own pace.

If you choose a subscription, your access will depend on your subscription remaining active.

Simply select the option that works best for you at checkout.

Can I get help if I'm struggling?

Beat juggling can take time to master, particularly when you're developing new movements and coordination.

That's why the course includes detailed explanations, demonstrations and a structured progression to help you understand each pattern before attempting more difficult variations.

You can revisit lessons as often as necessary and work through the drills at your own pace.

You can contact Mr. Big Mouth directly with questions and challenges and he will help you.

If you'd like more ongoing personalised support, one-to-one coaching sessions are also available separately, allowing you to work directly on the areas where you need the most help.

Who created the course?

The course was created by Mr. Big Mouth, a UK DMC Vice Champion with over 20 years of experience as a Scratch DJ and an MSc in Occupational Psychology.

Alongside competing in national and international DJ battles, he has extensive professional experience in learning, development and high performance.

That combination means you're learning from someone who understands both turntablism and the science of developing complex skills.

The course brings those two worlds together to make beat juggling easier to understand, practise and master.
